On the corner of Ocean Park and 28th, stands an institution to classic Italian dining. Vito Restaurant was founded over 35 years ago and has been widely recognized for their excellent cuisine. But this ain't no fancy joint ... it's old school in just the way we like our classic Italian dining. The dark small space and booth seating lets you know these guys have been around a while and know what they're doing.   

So when the gang and I stopped in for a casual dinner, along with some classic dishes we stuck with the classics for drinks. No fancy bartender specials, no unique concoctions. We each ordered a drink fitting of a time honored establishment like Vito's. We had a Tanqueray martini, a Ketel One martini, an espresso martini, a classic Daiquiri, and a Ketel One and tonic. Oh yes the martini's were flowing more than usual this night. 

But all the martinis were excellent. Good sized, not too strong, not watered down, just right. Even the espresso martini held its own. In fact it might have been my favorite, which surprised me, especially since the Ketel One and tonic didn't impress. It could in fact have been soda instead of tonic but even still it was just off. Regardless, everyone else enjoyed their cocktails and after a couple more espresso martinis all was right with the world. The next time you're in the area and looking for some solid drinks, stop by Vito's, try the martinis and enjoy the ambiance.
