French Laundry is a mainstay of the world's "best of" lists. Chef Thomas Keller has created a pantheon to food and service in Yountville, California. Chef Keller bought the 1,600 square foot building and courtyard in 1994 that would soon become the home he had always been looking for. Since then, the French laundry has received "numerous honors and accolades. Most recently, the Michelin Guide San Francisco awarded The French Laundry their highest rating of three stars for the sixth year in a row, making Thomas Keller the only American-born chef to have two three-starred Michelin restaurants. In 2006, the James Beard Foundation gave The French Laundry the highly coveted “Outstanding Restaurant Award” and awarded Chef Thomas Keller “Outstanding Restaurateur” in 2007."
Our evening was decadent, long and inevitably memorable. Every need is met and nothing is too small for their staff to resolve. If you have the time, the money and the inclination, try French Laundry. It's absolutely, one of my favorite things to mention when a friend is teasing me about the FABULOUS place they are eating but I am missing....yes, you know who I'm talking about....Willows Inn!
