Everything Sprinkles does is pretty amazing. First it was cupcakes. Then it was a 24-hour vending machine for cupcakes. And now it’s ice cream. What in the world is next!
Sprinkles Ice Cream
We would have been incredulous if you had told us in first grade that we would one day tire of cupcakes.
Of course, we could not predict the sweet oversaturation of the cupcake economy. Our love for ice cream, however, is immortal.
Which is why, after a few weeks of admitted avoidance, we recently found ourselves standing next to the summer-vacationing kids of Beverly Hills, waiting in line at Sprinkles Ice Cream. If the confections sold at the bakery next door have become trite, Sprinkles Ice Cream makes the same batter seem fresh. Sundaes are ice cream scooped over split cupcakes ($8.50); ice cream sandwiches are made with two rounded cupcake tops ($7).
That the ice cream ($3.50 a scoop) is not too sweet, that the flavors are both layered and playful certainly helps the cause. Bourbon accents the chocolate chip; cherries are simmered in wine before being folded into the cherry vanilla. There’s even Cap'n Crunch ice cream.
An Andy Warhol quote is posted on the back wall: “Rodeo Drive is like a giant butterscotch sundae.” If Sprinkles Ice Cream has its way, Santa Monica Boulevard will become an oversized scoop of Cap'n Crunch ice cream sandwiched between cupcake tops (pictured).

You’re not usually one to get all riled up about cupcakes. Usually.
But it’s so nice out. You want ice cream. And if, hypothetically, somebody were to take that ice cream and put it between two cupcake tops…
You might kind of want to put that in your face immediately.
And right on cue: introducing Sprinkles Ice Cream, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor that just might revolutionize the ice cream sandwich, opening Thursday in Beverly Hills.
So yeah, Sprinkles. You’ve heard of it. You may or may not have made a 3am run to their cupcake ATM to make someone in your bed happy. But now… now is your time.
You’ll find the new ice cream shop right next door to the cupcake mecca (and that ATM), and it looks… like an ice cream shop: a clean, simple spot with swaths of bright white and penny tile. Step up to the counter and you’ll see flavors from classic vanilla bean to salty caramel to Cap’n Crunch—the obvious choice when they open at 10am.
You can get it in a sundae, in a float or in a red velvet waffle cone. All of which is fine and good. But really, you’ll probably want to ask them to take that ice cream and put it between two red velvet, vanilla or dark chocolate cupcake tops from their neighbors.
Vastly better than a cup of sugar.

Ok, if you live in LA you know about Sprinkles. Now they’re opening an ice cream shop next door? Woah…yummy, yummy, yummy!
Sprinkles Announces 24-Hour Cupcake Access & Ice Cream Shop
If you’re craving a cupcake in the middle of the night, unless you planned ahead and have some on your counter, your only choice might be those nasty ones at your local all-night grocery store. That is, until Sprinkles, one of the L.A.-based bakeries deemed responsible for kicking off the international cupcake craze, launches their 24-hour cupcake access.
Oh, and because that wasn’t enough, Sprinkles is also planning to open an ice cream shop in Beverly Hills, adjacent to their cupcake shop.
Details are scant, but the photographic evidence is on Facebook, where 24-Hour-Sprinkles and Sprinkles Ice Cream already exist.
The 24-Hour-Sprinkles seems to be some sort of vending machine modeled after an old-school ATM. And it’s pink! (Squeeeee!)
We can only imagine at least one of their ice cream flavors will be inspired by cupcakes. But will any of their flavors be inspired by Los Angeles?
No word yet on when either expanded Sprinkle option will be available.
UPDATE 4:45 PM: We got some info from Sprinkles about the ice cream and the 24-Hour access!
