The 2014 Eat+Drink Supper Club

A Curated Dining Experience

I can’t believe it’s been an entire year already and here we are with our second Eat+Drink Supper Club season - yes, that’s what I’m calling summer now, the supper club season.  We had so much fun last year with our chefs that we’re bringing a few of them back.  We’ve also paired many of them with amazing winemakers and other local culinary entrepreneurs to completely blow your minds.  I can’t wait to spend the summer eating and drinking with you!

Our first dinner is April 26th with Chef Clark Staub of Full of Life Flatbread and J.Brix Wines (the full summer list is below). Chef Staub’s menu is to die for and the husband+wife team of Emily & Jody Brix Towe will regale you with why their wines are about to become your new best friends.

1st Course: Morro Bay Oysters with Mignonette & Spring Pea Soup
Wine: 2012 j. brix “The Augur” Riesling, Kick On Ranch Vineyard

2nd Course: Burrata-stuffed Artichoke wrapped in Prosciutto & Spring-Greens Salad
Wine: 2012 j. brix “Audire” Pinot Noir, Kick On Ranch Vineyard

3rd Course: House-made Chorizo-stuffed Santa Barbara Squid w/Beans and Aioli & Shaman’s Flatbread
Wine: 2011 j. brix “La Belle Rêveuse” Syrah, Alamo Creek Vineyard

4th Course: Smoked Goat-Milk Ice Cream, Cajeta, Pistachio Cake

Saturday, April 26th
7:00p Cocktails & 8:00p Dinner: $100

Shopping for this Weekend’s Sushi Dinners!

Yes, you read that correctly.  We had so much demand for Chef Eric Brown’s sushi dinner this Saturday, May 4th, that we added a “preview” dinner on Friday night for 12 people.  We’ve been out shopping for Eric so he has less to do on Thursday and Friday - he’s flying in Wednesday night!  We’re super excited about this opportunity.  As Eric says “Miso excited!”.  :)

Eater has a little map of their favorite 17 sushi restaurants.  I thought it was apropos considering that the next Eat+Drink Supper Club is SUSHI.  Keep your schedule clear for Chef Eric Brown on May 4th - if you’re on the Eat+Drink Supper Club mailing list, the invite will go out early next week!

Supper Clubs

Great little article and slideshow about the contents of Wolvesmouth owner/chef Craig Thornton’s kitchen.  Wolvesmouth was the inspiration for the Eat+Drink Supper Club.  Wolvesmouth is an underground supper club housed in Thornton’s downtown loft with a mile long wait list.  Eat+Drink is on the west side, in a lovely inviting environment (our house) and provides an opportunity to meet like-minded foodies that you’ll want to chat with over and over again.  Come join us!

The Eat+Drink Supper Club Kick-off with Charlie Parker from Freddy Smalls

If you’ve kept up with my posts on Eat+Drink, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, I’m sort of obsessed with Freddy Smalls and Charlie Parker in particular.

On March 24th, you’ll understand why.

Email me to attend!

Menu:

Smoked Trout Deviled Eggs

Chicken Liver Mousse on Country Toast

Beet and Asparagus Salad • Spicy Greens. Burrata. Golden Crumb

Zagat’s 30 Under 30: LA’s Hottest Up-and-Comers of 2013

One of my favorite chefs, Charlie Parker of Freddy Smalls, was recognized by Zagat’s as one of Los Angeles’ top chefs to keep an eye on in 2013.  You know we’re on to something when I highlighted Charlie and Freddy Smalls months ago.  Keep an eye on Charlie and Eat+Drink!!

Flynn McGarry’s Winter Menu

I know I haven’t written my review yet of this culinary wunderkind but here is a little video his team created from that event.  If you get really close to the screen, squint your eyes just so and cock your head to one side, you might be able to see me sitting along the window.  Good luck.
